Tai Chi - Meditation in Motion

Tai Chi advantages
Tai Chi's greatest attributes is the fact that it stimulates the central nervous system, lowers blood pressure, relieves stress and gently tones muscles without strain.
It also enhances digestion, elimination of wastes and the circulation of blood. Moreover, tai chi's rhythmic movements massage the internal organs and improve their functionality.
- Tai chi brings into play every part of the body and benefits all bodily parts, not just the muscles system.
- tai chi emphasizes relaxation of mind and body so chi can flow freely.

What is Tai Chi?
Tai Chi can best be thought of as a moving form of yoga and meditation combined - MEDITATION in MOTION.
There are a number of so called forms which consist of a sequence of movements. Many of these movements are originally derived from the natural movements of animals and birds although the way they are performed in Tai Chi is slowly, softly and gracefully with smooth and even transitions between them.
In Chinese philosophy and medicine there is the concept of 'chi', a vital force that animates the body. Tai Chi fosters the circulation of this 'chi' within the body, the belief being that by doing so the health and vitality of the person are enhanced.

Chi
Tai chi emphasizes relaxation of mind and body-so chi can flow freely, then the energy starts coming through. When muscles tense, they block the flow of chi. When chi stops flowing or becomes unbalanced, disease results, and when chi stagnates in a certain area, you feel pain.
When the chi is coursing through the body, it provides equilibrium of the yin and yang energy, and health improves.

Breath
Tai Chi chuan students learn how to breathe deeply from the abdomen. During the forms, the even movement and rhythm are predominant. You learn to match your breathing with the movement. Your breathing pattern changes but you intuitively know how to breathe. Do it slowly so you can maintain that total control and awareness. .

Balance and health
benefits of tai chi chuan stem from correctly flowing chi and balanced posture. It's not just balancing in one posture and the next; it's balancing throughout a whole series of postures. That's why it demands so much more in terms of placing the body in the right way and being able to move very smoothly.
That smoothness provides calmness. In addition to physical balance, tai chi chuan practice cultivates what might be termed mental balance. The tai chi chuan symbol consists of a circle with a wavy line; the two resulting shapes represent yin and yang. Yang is not more than yin, or vice versa. You got to have both. Together, they represent being assertive and attacking, as well as being yielding and defending.
Yin and Yang
Yin is the dark, cold, female, introvert, passive side of life, shown as the Black area.
Yang is the light, warm, male, extrovert, active aspect, shown as the White area.
The T’ai Chi symbol means that everything in the Universe contains both light and dark, good and evil. These are complementary aspects rather than conflicting. The two small dots within each area indicate that Yin contains the seed of Yang, and Yang contains the seed of Yin.

Cycles of life
Taoist philosophy is based on the idea that everything goes in cycles - the nature, the years, the months, the seasons, even human life itself. These cycles are represented by the Circle of the T’ai Chi, and the flow of time is indicated by the way the Yin and the Yang areas increase and decrease as they progress around the symbol.

It assures that your innermost heart is present every moment of your daily life, and especially during your practice of Tai Chi. It magically opens of your chi your chi flow.
Smile while practicing tai chi your chi becomes ten times more powerful…
